My body as out of space: from non-places to spaces of resistance

This session of the Gender as Collage workshops is given by Cristina García López y Stefanie Fock and was realised for the first time during the I DAYS OF VISUAL RESISTANCE in La Fábrika Crítica en Granada in March 2015. It focueses on the interrelation of our bodies with the spaces they inhabit The proposals consists of the development of a collective self-etnography related to our experiences in the city we live in (in this case Granada). We deal with the effects that the noramtive organisation of space has on our bodies, as much as we emphasise those bodies and spaces that resist the norms. The purpose of the workshop is to create visual spaces of resistance that start with cutting and pasting images, but don’t remain on paper…

We started this workshop titled My body as out of space: from non-places to spaces of resistance developing cartographies of feelings and sensations we experience in our daily routes crossing the different spaces of the city of Granada.

Afterwards we produced this cubes as non-static constructions in order to discuss the interrelation of the concepts and experiences of gender, body, architectures of power, and spaces of resistance. Every participant expressed her own perception of the concepts on one side of the cubes that, next, were moved and spinned around to construct different narratives of My body as out of space and practices of resistance.
